FAQs
ULTRASONIC DIFFUSER FAQs
What is an ultrasonic diffuser and how does it work?
A diffuser is used to release essential oils into the air. An ultrasonic diffuser uses water and electricity to create vibrations (ultrasonic waves), releasing pure, essential oil molecules quickly into the air through a fine, cooling mist.
The ultrasonic diffuser does not use a direct or open flame like burners, so you can enjoy aromatherapy benefits in the comfort of your home or office. It’s a light, portable device which is simple and easy to use. Simply refill the water, add a few drops of oil and use over and over again.
How many drops of oil do I use in a diffuser?
Follow the guidelines provided in the instruction manual of your diffuser as amounts may vary depending on its size. Also refer to the product information of the essential oil you are using as an indication of the number of drops. As our essential oils are highly concentrated and potent, we suggest using the minimal amounts recommended before adjusting to your preferences and needs. The strength of the aroma and therapeutic benefits also depends on the size of the room. A larger room will require slightly more essential oil.
Are your diffusers BPA-free?
Yes, our diffusers are made from BPA-free plastic. We use only safe and non-toxic materials for our aroma diffusers.
Is it safe to leave the diffuser unattended?
Yes. You can turn it on before you go to sleep and not have to worry about switching it off. Your diffuser will switch off automatically when the water level drops to a certain level.
Will I get the same strong aroma as that from a scented candle or air freshener?
The strength of the aroma will depend on the size of your diffuser and room. If you’d like a stronger aroma, use more oil drops or use the diffuser in a smaller room.
What’s the difference between a diffuser and a conventional oil burner?
No heat is used in our ultrasonic diffusers, meaning that essential oil molecules are not damaged or modified when being dispersed. Instead, the power of essential oils is retained in the form of a cooling mist. Furthermore, our ultrasonic diffusers are safe to leave on unattended and during the night as they do not require a flame to operate.
Do your diffusers work like humidifiers?
Our diffusers only disperse a light, aromatic mist over a small area. While the functionality is similar to what a large capacity humidifier does, it cannot replace it.
Can I use essential oils of another brand with your diffuser?
Yes, other pure essential oils can be used in the diffuser. The diffuser’s function is to disperse oil and water molecules into the air. However, we highly recommend our essential oils as they are specially formulated and blended harmoniously for a divine scent profile and wellness benefits. This means that our oils not only smell delightful, but also nurture your mind and body.
How do I care for my diffuser?
Clean your diffuser every few days so that it works efficiently and to remove oil residue. Empty or replace the water in the reservoir daily to avoid mould. See here for more detailed instructions.
Can I run the diffuser without turning on the light function?
Yes. All our diffusers can be used without the light.
Are the diffusers covered by warranty?
Acacia Aromatherapy provides a one-year warranty from the date of purchase if faults or malfunction occur under normal operations and users have followed the suggestions of the instruction manual. Please contact us if you need help at hello@acaciaaromatherapy.com.au.
ESSENTIAL OILS FAQs
Are Acacia essential oils pure and natural?
Yes, all our oils and blends are 100% pure and natural. Our essential oil blends are designed to enhance your mood and general wellbeing. They are not diluted or contain carrier oils. We stock only 100% pure essential oils which can be traced directly to its botanical origin.
What’s the difference between fragrance oils and pure essential oils?
Most fragrance oils are synthetic chemical scents. They are cheap and used in cosmetics, as food flavours and in perfumes.
Pure essential oils originate from plants and are distilled using steam or cold pressing. They do not contain any vegetable oils or synthetic compounds. The oils are 100% natural.
What is an essential oil blend?
Essential oils are powerful chemical compounds extracted from plants. An essential oil blend consists of two or more complementary oils which work together in order to strengthen each other’s effects and benefits. Essential oil blends also deliver a unique and harmonious fragrance. These balanced blends may provide for a specific need such as improved sleep or relieving stress.
Can I use the oils on my baby or while pregnant?
Some essential oils are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women and are unsuitable for babies. Please check the relevant product information and consult your health professional before use.
Are the oils harmful to household pets?
The suitability of essential oils for household pets vary with each oil and the type of pet. We do not recommend topical application unless otherwise directed by a veterinarian or animal care specialist as some oils may be toxic to pets. When diffusing, only use oils as directed and consider lowering the dose. Generally, ensure there is sufficient ventilation and that your pet can move out of the room if uncomfortable. Never leave oils open and in reach of pets.
How do I use the oils for a massage?
Add 2 to 3 drops of a suggested Acacia essential oil per 10mL of base oil or massage oil for a general, wellbeing massage.
How should I dilute essential oils use on the skin?
Carrier oils are needed as pure essential oils may be too strong to be used directly on the skin. Common carrier oils include jojoba, coconut, grapeseed and almond oil. The dilution ratio varies according to the purpose and the type of oil used. Please refer to the individual oil product information and our dilution guide here.
How long will one bottle last?
There are approximately 200 drops of oils in a 10mL essential oil bottle. Using 4-5 drops per use, one of our 10mL bottles will last around 40-50 uses.
Where do I store my essential oils?
Store your essential oils upright, in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight and with little temperature variation. It is recommended to store the oils at below 40 degrees Celsius.
Can my skin be exposed to the sun after using essential oils?
Some citrus essential oils can cause photo-sensitisation of the skin, making your skin more susceptible to UV radiation. When using a photosensitive oil on the skin, avoid exposure to sunlight for at least 12 hours after use. If unsure whether an oil is safe to apply to skin before sun exposure, please check the individual oil product information for an indication.
